Cameroon project factsheet
2025Also available in:
No results found. In November 2017, the sociopolitical crisis in Cameroon’s North-West and South-West regions escalated into armed conflict between government forces and separatist groups. This led to widespread insecurity, displacement, and economic disruption. Many people fled to Nigeria or sought refuge in forests and nearby towns. Schools and clinics were shut down, and agricultural activities were severely affected, with farmers unable to cultivate land and crops destroyed. Although the situation has stabilized somewhat after six years, the crisis continues to have a significant impact on the region’s economy, education, and healthcare systems.
