Synopsis (short abstract) The FAO Partnership and Liaison Office (PLO) in the Republic of Korea (ROK) has been actively engaged in various impactful initiatives, marking its third year of operational launch this year. This edition highlights the PLO's engagement and work in the 37th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference, support for FAO's initiatives including FAO Asian Knowledge Hub webinars, and facilitation of FAO Bhutan's Study Visit to the ROK. The PLO has also actively enhanced partnerships with the central government, international organizations, and youth through national chapters.

    The first detailed study of large scale land acquisitions in Africa analyses the modalities and likely impacts. The study highlights the possible opportunities (investments, rising agricultural productivity and rural incomes), if things are managed well and warns about the risks (uncompensated loss of land rights for the rural poor) if contracts are not properly negotiated and enforced.
