No results found.At the kind invitation of the State Agency of Fisheries of Ukraine, the first session of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of the Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Commission (CACFish) was held in Kiev, Ukraine, on 20–22 November 2012. The Session was attended by representatives of four Members: Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkey. Also participation in the session were representatives from six non-CACFish Members – Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkmen istan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan – as well as from FAO. The TAC produced scientific advice on the following issues for consideration of CACFish: (i) environmental impact assessment in aquaculture; (ii) regional principles for responsible aquaculture in Central Asia; (iii) responsible introductions and transfers of fish in Central Asia and the Caucasus; and (iv) improvement of collection, analysis and dissemination of fisheries data and information. The TAC identified the prioritized areas of the five-year Regional Work Programme of the Commission (2011–15) and associated activities for implementation in 2013. Establishment of sub-bodies under the TAC was determined early on. In addition, the TAC discussed and identified general key priority areas for its work. These included, among others, technical fishing regulations, intensive aquaculture techniques and methodologies, fish health management, fish breeding and broodstock management, trade-related management measures and environmental security. -
