    The Second Session of the Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Commission was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 16–17 April 2013. The Session was attended by representatives of four Members: Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkey. The Session was also attended by observers from the following States: Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkmenistan and Ukraine. The Commission adopted the scientific and technical advice and recommendations on the following issues which were submitte d to the Commission for its consideration by the Technical and Advisory Committee (TAC) (i) Environmental impact assessment in aquaculture (EIA), (ii) Regional principles for responsible aquaculture in Central Asia (Appendix 7), (iii) Responsible introductions and transfers of fish in Central Asia and the Caucasus and (iv) Improvement of collection, analysis, and dissemination of fisheries data and information. The Commission agreed to consider the establishment of subsidiary bodies under TAC at a time when the Commission has more members and more programmes in place. The Commission discussed its 5-year Regional Work Programme (2011–2015) and endorsed 2013 work programme of the TAC. The CACFish Secretariat briefed the key works and activities that were conducted during the intersessional period. The Commission adopted its 2013 autonomous budget as USD180 000. Importance of the external financial and technical contribution to the five-year Regional Work Programme of CACFish was underlin ed by the Session.

    The Second Session of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of the Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Commission (CACFish) was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic on 21–23 April 2014. The Session was attended by representatives of five CACFish Members, namely Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkey. The session was also attended by the following invited non-CACFish Member States: Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine. The TAC discussed and generated scientific advice and prioritised research needs on the following issues for consideration of CACFish: (i) inland fisheries stock assessment; (ii) regional strategic principles for climate change; and (iii) fish breeding and broodstock management. The Committee also approved after technical discussions the Framework for a regional strategy and associated principles for aquatic animal health management in CACFish area. TAC also set its 2014–2015 inter-sessional work plan. TAC revised the Regional Work Progr amme and proposed some amendments. Revision and subsequent implementation of the five-year regional work programme is regarded as an essential operational instrument of CACFish in terms of regional improvements in inland fisheries and aquaculture. Organization of biennial sessions with biennial work programme was found worthy to consider in terms of cost-effectiveness however no conclusion was reached on that matter.

    The Fourth Session of the Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Commission was held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from 18 to 20 May 2015. The Session was attended by the representatives of five Member States: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkey. The session was also attended by the following invited states: Georgia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan. The Commission adopted the following thematic scientific and technical recommendations produced by the Tec hnical and Advisory Committee (TAC) at its Third Meeting held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on 16-18 February 2015: (i) Fisheries monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS); (ii) Inland fish hatchery management; and (iii) Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication. The Commission reviewed the progress made in the implementation of the CACFish 5-year Work Programme (2011-2015) and endorsed the second-term 5-year Work Progr amme covering the period 2016-2020. The Commission adopted its autonomous budget for 2015. Additionally, the Commission decided to hold its regular sessions every two years after its fifth session in 2016.
