No results found.The improvement of crops through plant breeding is one of the most potent tools available for achieving multiple economic and social goals. Since the beginning of crop domestication, genetic change has been the basis for crop improvement, manifested in such traits as larger seed size, better flavour or nutrient content, resistance to pests and diseases, responsiveness to nutrient inputs, adaptation to diverse soil and climatic factors, and many others. This process of modifying the genetic attri butes of plants has continued for more than 10 000 years. During all but the past century, this process was solely in the hands of the growers who inadvertently changed gene frequencies through selecting better types and discarding less desirable ones.

Тематика брошюр включают наиболее передовые и актуальные направления сельскохозяйственной практики и методов инновационных технологий, таких как почвозащитные и почвоулучшающие мероприятия, борьба с водной эрозией, применение водосберегающих технологий, эффективное и рациональное орошение, производство и применение различных видов удобрений, севооборот и его значение в повышении плодородия почвы, биологические меры борьбы с вредителями и болезнями сельскохозяйственных культур, изучение и подбор солеустойчивых сельскохозяйственных культур, а также и другие технологии и практики. Данные брошюры разработаны с целью повышения потенциала фермеров и крестьян, которые постоянно сталкиваются различными факторами деградации и проблемами земледелия. Если не будут внедряться новые подходы и методы, сокращающие и в дальнейшем искореняющие эти критические процессы, общая площадь пахотных земель и урожайность сельскохозяйственных культур будет уменьшаться, а плодородных почв ухудшаться. Однако текущий подход и практика интенсивного ведения земледелия, применяемая многими фермерами не в силе ответить на такой серьезный вызов и обеспечить стабильное, эффективное и бережное использование природных ресурсов. Учитывая все эти негативные и прогрессирующие процессы сельского хозяйства, основной целью данных публикаций является предоставление фермерам информации о научно обоснованных и практически доказанных методах и новых инновационных подходах, позволяющих сокращать деградацию и повышать плодородие почвы в условиях фермерского хозяйства и необходимости их проведения с описанием положительных и практических опытов демонстрационных фермеров вышеуказанного проекта. -

No results found.The document reports the activities carried out during the first year of the InDAM Project “Indicators for Sustainable Development of Aquaculture and Guidelines for their use in the Mediterranean” in support to the GFCM CAQ Working Group on Sustainability in Aquaculture (WGSA) and funded by the EU DG Mare. The project focuses on the practical use of the indicators for sustainable aquaculture and their adaptation to the Mediterranean Sea. The methodology applied for the identification of the prel iminary list of indicators was based on the PCI (Principles, Criteria and Indicators) approach and took into consideration the main outcomes and achievements of the recent projects carried out in the Mediterranean on the identification of indicators for sustainable aquaculture. The principles of sustainability and standards, in their four dimensions: governance, economic, social and environmental, and their relationship with aquaculture and its sustainable development in the coastal areas, are h ighlighted. The document also reports the results of the workshop on the Selection of indicators for the sustainable development of aquaculture in the Mediterranean Sea (27th-28th November 2008, Montpellier, France), the expert meeting on Indicators for the sustainable development of aquaculture in the Mediterranean Sea (24-26 February 2009, Montpellier, France) and the workshop on Guidelines and application of indicators for sustainable development of aquaculture (19-20 November 2009, Salammbô, Tunisia). The recommendations given by the WGSA are also included. The two pilot studies on the selection and evaluation of the indicators for aquaculture sustainable development carried out in Mugla, Turkey, and Monastir, Tunisia, are described. The data base on relevant indicators for sustainable aquaculture and the web portal on the InDAM Project activities hosted on the SIPAM website are presented.
