No results found.The Steering Committee Meeting to Prepare for the second Regional Intergovernmental Meeting on the Establishment of a Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries Arrangement (Ankara, Turkey, 24–26 March 2009) was organized by FAO in response to the request from governments at the Regional Intergovernmental Meeting to Initiate the Establishment of a Central Asian Fisheries Organization, held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, from 10 to 12 November 2008.The meeting initiated the drafting work on the sub stantive issues of the agreement and decided on the next steps including a timeline to confirm the commitment to a cooperative arrangement and the choice on the option for the regional cooperative arrangement in order to prepare for the second Regional Intergovernmental Meeting on the Establishment of a Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries Arrangement, which is scheduled to take place in Trabzon, Turkey, from 3 to 5 June 2009. -

No results found.The Third Intergovernmental Meeting on the Establishment of the Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Commission was held in Trabzon, Turkey, from 30 November to 1 December 2010. The Meeting was attended by delegations from eleven countries (Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan) and an observer from the Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TICA). The Meeting decided to convene a Preparatory Meeting to commence offi cially the preparations for the inaugural meeting of the Commission. The first session of the Preparatory Meeting discussed, amended and approved through consensus the “Rules of Procedure for the Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Commission”, the draft “5-Year Regional Work Programme (2011 -2015)” of the Commission, the budget for the first financial period of the Commission and the methodology for calculation of the scale of contributions by members to the administrative budget of the Commission. The approved documents are to be presented to the inaugural meeting of the Commission for endorsement. -

No results found.The Fourth Intergovernmental Meeting on the Establishment of the Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Commission was held in Cholpon Ata, Kyrgyzstan in the period 22–24 June 2011. The Meeting was attended by delegations from eight countries (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkey and Ukraine) and an observer from the Caspian Environment Programme (CaspEco). The Meeting, which was the Second Session of the Preparatory Meeting (which was convened at the Third Intergovernmental meeting in December 2010), finalized and made progress on the most required documentation for the Inaugural Meeting of the Commission. The Meeting reviewed the draft Financial Regulations, and discussed, amended and approved through consensus the Inaugural Meeting Agenda, the logo and the acronym of the Commission. The Meeting also discussed and approved the interim technical advice presented, consisting of the “Draft Better Management Practices for Carp P roduction in Central and Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia”, “Draft conclusions and recommendations of the regional study on the feasibility of restocking and development of culture-based fisheries in Central Asia”, and the “Draft technical guidelines for sturgeon hatchery practices and management for release”. The interim technical advice is to be presented to the Inaugural Meeting of the Commission for final endorsement.
