Book (series)Evaluation reportTerminal evaluation of the project “Community Management of the Miombo Forests in South-East Katanga”
Project code: GCP/DRC/046/GFF - GEF ID: 5547
2024Also available in:
“Miombo” forests are open forests dominated by the genera Brachystegia, Julbernardia and/or Isoberlinia, which surround the tropical rainforests of Central Africa. These ecosystems, which cover 2.4 million km2, constitute the dominant plant cover of southern Africa. However, the ecosystem services they offer are threatened by increasing anthropogenic pressure. The GCP/DRC/046/GFF project, funded by the GEF, was implemented from 2016 to 2023 by FAO in partnership with the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo to promote sustainable management and restoration of miombo forest ecosystems in the south-east of Katanga. The project evaluation, the subject of this report, judges the performance of the project to be generally satisfactory. The report presents the salient results of the project, the lessons to be taken into account as well as the measures to be applied to consolidate the achievements, ensure their sustainability and promote impact. -

BookletCorporate general interestEmissions due to agriculture
Global, regional and country trends 2000–2018
2021Also available in:
No results found. The FAOSTAT emissions database is composed of several data domains covering the categories of the IPCC Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector of the national GHG inventory. Energy use in agriculture is additionally included as relevant to emissions from agriculture as an economic production sector under the ISIC A statistical classification, though recognizing that, in terms of IPCC, they are instead part of the Energy sector of the national GHG inventory. FAO emissions estimates are available over the period 1961–2018 for agriculture production processes from crop and livestock activities. Land use emissions and removals are generally available only for the period 1990–2019. This analytical brief focuses on overall trends over the period 2000–2018. -
