dc.description.abstract Farmer in Asia have become increasingly interested in planting trees on their farms, and on village public lands. The reasons for their growing interest are many: deforestation-many areas now lack easy access to tree products for household use; awareness-trees contribute to the environmental stability and productivity of small farms; demand-fast growing trees are an increasingly profitable investment. Users of this handbook will become familiar with few simple techniques which will enable them to be successful seed collectors. They will then be able to; develop improved village supplies of tree products for family and local use; plant trees as valuable crash crops; have greater access to tree seedlings which can be used to restore damaged environments.
