2. Narrative

The vessels itinerary was as follows:

Departure Port of Spain 23 August 20 hrs.
Called at Galeota Point 27 August 09 hrs.
Arrival Port of Spain 28 May 20 hrs.
After 10 hours steaming to north of Tobago the work started with a hydrographical section off the Islands north point. Three days were spent surveying the east coast, completed with a hydrographical section off Galeota Point. To gain time for the last leg of the cruise some of the trawl stations in the joint fishing zone were carried out before call at Galeota Point. After change of personnel 1.5 days were spent in the joint fishing zone with acoustic survey and intensive trawling. 8 sets of day/night hauls were carried out in order to investigate diurnal effects on fishing. Altogether 39 trawl stations were completed and about 820 nm were steamed in the course of the survey.

Figure 1 and 2 shows the course tracks and the fishing- and hydrographical stations worked. Rough coralline bottom prevails over most of the shelf on the east coast and the bottom trawl hauls made in the area are few.
