5 The publishing policy in context

This policy is part of Publishing at FAO, a multi-part guide designed to support FAO's publishing programme, which aims to uphold FAO's reputation as a trusted source of information and make a positive impact on global food security and sustainable agriculture.

The other chapters of Publishing at FAO cover authorship and plagiarism; FAO's house style; graphic design; quality assurance; accessible publishing; and more. They will be updated as publishing practices continue to evolve.

Together, these guidance documents reinforce FAO’s mandate as a knowledge organization; emphasize digital-first publishing; and prioritize the production of impactful, accessible and measurable publications that respond to the evolving needs of a diverse audience base and modern information engagement habits.

The applicable mediation rules will be the mediation rules of the World Intellectual Property Organization http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/mediation/rules and any arbitration will be conducted in accordance with the Arbitration Rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
