No results found.The Global Symposium on Soil Information and Data GSID24, co-organized by FAO's Global Soil Partnership (GSP) and the Institute of Soil Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISSCAS), marked a milestone as the first such event held outside FAO headquarters. It brought together scientists, policymakers, and practitioners from across the globe to address critical issues in soil data management, harmonization, and open access. This Outcome Document reflects the symposium’s discussions, practical solutions, and commitment to treat soil information as a common good, accessible to all. It captures the innovative ideas, technical advances, and recommendations that will guide the next steps towards building a truly interoperable global soil information system. The GSID24 successfully highlighted the role of accurate, standardized, harmonized, and accessible soil data in addressing pressing global challenges such as food security, climate change and land degradation. -
