No results found.The first meeting of the Regional Fisheries Data and Statistics Working Group (FDS-WG) was convened in Barbados from 14-16 May 2018. The Regional FDS WG is a joint working group of the Western Central Atlantic Fishery Commission (WECAFC), the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM), and Organization for Fisheries and Aquaculture of Central America (OSPESCA). The 26 participating experts, representing 16 WECAFC members, were presented with and discussed key documents meant to build the foundation of this new working group. La primera reunión del Grupo de trabajo regional sobre datos y estadísticas de pesca (GTDEP) se celebró en Barbados, del 14 al 16 de mayo de 2018. El GTDEP regional es un grupo de trabajo conjunto de la Comisión de Pesca para el Atlántico Centro-Occidental (COPACO), el Mecanismo Regional de Pesca del Caribe (CRFM) y la Organización del Sector Pesquero y Acuícola del Istmo Centroamericano (OSPESCA). Se presentaron a los 26 expertos participantes, en representación de los 16 miembros de la COPACO, y se debatieron documentos importantes para sentar las bases de este nuevo grupo de trabajo. -

No results found.Calipseo is a tool to support FAO Members to reinforce their capacity to produce fisheries statistics for evidence-based policies making, as well as for fulfilling reporting obligations to national institutions, regional fisheries bodies or management organizations and to FAO. The tool can be deployed as a complete National Fisheries Statistics and Management Information System to manage and monitor the whole fishery sector (from small-scale to industrial fisheries), or it can be deployed partially to complement existing tools in place in the National Fisheries Authority.It supports SDG 14 in streamlining national knowledge of fisheries impact on ecosystem for sustainable management of the resource.This leaflet is a general presentation of the platform and the benefits for the stakeholders in adopting this platform. -

No results found.The Report of the Eighteenth Session of the Coordinating Working Party on Fishery Statistics (CWP), Luxembourg, Grand Duchy, 6-9 July 1999, is presented. Major topics discussed were: reviews of recommendations from CWP-17; agency programmes in fishery statistics; harmonization among agency databases; exchange and dissemination of information and statistics; STATLANT issues; integrated fisheries monitoring; definition of nationality of catch; major fishing area modifications; statistical impli cations of the Precautionary Approach; elasmobranch statistics; fishery trade data; socio-economic indicators for fisheries (fisher statistics, landing value statistics, and fleet statistics, vessel data and vessel monitoring systems); and future activities of the CWP. Further consideration was given to (a) the recently published Guidelines for the Routine Collection of Capture Fisheries Data (FAO/DANIDA); and (b) the conclusions of the International Conference on Integrated Fisheries Monitori ng. The Indian Ocean Tuna Commission and the Commission on the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna had been admitted as new participating organizations of the CWP. CWP-18 made twenty recommendations.
