dc.description.abstract | Based on official reports, this compendium illustrates how projects funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), designed and implemented by FAO in close collaboration with national counterparts in Latin America and the Caribbean from 2013 to 2023, are concretely contributing to achieving the objectives of the new Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity. These projects have been essential in addressing critical biodiversity challenges in the region, where biological diversity is rich but threatened. FAO has worked alongside local governments, community organizations, and other key stakeholders to develop strategies and actions that not only protect biodiversity but also promote sustainable development and community resilience. In particular, this document focuses on Target 09 of the Global Biodiversity Framework: Manage wildlife species sustainably to benefit people.Contributions are reported in the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Grenada, Mexico, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago. | |
