In this issue, Unasylva examines a number of aspects of the relationship between forestry and the environment. One of the most widely discussed environmental issues is the prospect of global climate change. K. Andrasko, a part icipant in a recent FAO Expert Consultation on forests and climate change, considers the current state of understanding about this complex interrelationship. A related article by B. Kyrklund explores the potential of industrial forestry to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide.
