Delegates from 18 commission member countries - Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, DPR Korea, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tonga and Viet Nam - besides observers from Japan and the United States, were present. The meeting reviewed the body's work since the previous Asia and Pacific Plant Protection Commissio n (APPPC) session and the status of plant protection in the 18 member nations. In the past two years, the commission has been working to amend the Asia and Pacific Plant Protection Agreement in line with the new world trade rules. The session reviewed progress in integrated pest management (IPM), compliance with international norms on safe use of pesticides and the implementation of plant quarantine in the region. -
