Synopsis (short abstract) The Crisis Management Centre – Animal Health (CMC-AH) aims to stay ahead of disease developments. Using intelligence collected and analyzed by the Global Early Warning System (GLEWS) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the World Health Organization (WHO), the CMC-AH tries to anticipate crises to which it may need to respond.

    With the expertise of FAO and its partners underpinning CMC-AH efforts, the Centre approaches situations strategically by promoting transition from emergency response to medium- and longer-term efforts. CMC-AH missions serve as catalysts for increased cross-border communication, regional collaboration and international awareness. The CMC-AH also mobilizes local and international resources through follow-up projects for affected countries in need of continued assistance.

    The Crisis Management Centre – Animal Health (CMC-AH) is a joint platform of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) to respond to animal disease emergencies. Based at FAO headquarters, CMC-AH combines FAO’s expertise with that of OIE, and liaises with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other partners to provide timely support to countries experiencing or at-risk of transboundary animal diseases and zoonotic outbreaks.
