No results found.The Canary Current Large Marine Ecosystem (CCLME) is one of the most productive and biologically diverse Large Marine Ecosystems in the world. It features a diverse range of marine and coastal habitats including wetlands, estuaries, seagrass beds, mangroves and coral communities that host a large number of endemic and migrant species. Annual fisheries production from the CCLME ranges from 2 to 3 million tonnes, the highest fisheries production of any African LME, with the total value of catches exceeding US$3 billion per year. The CCLME provides vital food and economic resources to coastal populations bordering the Large Marine Ecosystem, and also to much of West Africa. -

No results found.La Septième réunion du Comité de Pilotage (CP) du projet “Protection du Grand Ecosystème Marin du Courant des Canaries“ (CCLME) s’est tenue à Banjul, Gambie, du 12 au 13 décembre 2018. Les représentants de 6 pays de la zone du projet Gambie, Guinée, Guinée-Bissau, Maroc, Mauritanie et Sénégal, l’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l’alimentation et l‘agriculture (FAO), la Commission Sous Régionale des Pêches (CSRP) et l’Unité Régionale de Coordination (URC) ont assisté à la réunion. Des institutions et projets partenaires (Programme EAF-Nansen, Projet Régional des Pêches en Afrique de l’Ouest (PRAO), l’Institut Espagnol d’Océanographie (IEO)) ont assisté à la réunion en tant qu’observateurs. Le Cabo Verde et le PNUE n’ont pas été représentés. -

No results found.The second meeting of the Steering Committee (sc) of the Project « Protection of the Canary Current Large Marine Ecosystem » (CCLME) was held in Casablanca, on 28th and 29th November 2011. Representatives of the seven countries (Morrocco, Mauritania, Cape Verde, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau), United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO),United Nations’ Programme for Environnement (UNEP), Secretariat of the Abidjan Convention, Subregional Fisheries Commission (SFRC) and th e Regional Coordinating Unit (RCU) attended the meeting. A number of cofinance partners and other partner organizations attended the meeting as observers. The list of participants is presented in Annex 1. The overall objective of this Second Steering Committee meeting was to review and approve the 2011 activity report and the work plan and budget for the year 2012. The agenda adopted for the meeting is attached as Annex 2.
