dc.description.abstract In Kenya, there is growing recognition among countygovernments that county regional economic integrationcan provide the critical leverage necessary to realizeeconomic growth potential. In view of this, countieswithin close geographic proximity have come togetherto establish six regional economic blocs. One of theseeconomic blocs comprises six coastal region counties(Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, Tana River and TaitaTaveta Counties), known as Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani(JKP). A Secretariat was established to oversee theimplementation of JKP’s development activities, ofwhich the regional Economic Development blueprintwas a critical priority, as all future developmentinvestments in the coastal region would be guidedby this blueprint. Against this background, FAO aimedto support JKP, through its Secretariat, to develop aparticipatory economic blueprint and a detailedagriculture strategy for the region.
