    The Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics (GSARS) is an ambitious five-year programme implemented by FAO in collaboration with other partners that seeks to empower developing countries to produce better agricultural and rural statistics for effective policy making and to improve lives. This brochure provides an overview of the project, highlights the progress towards achieving the Global Strategy with the way foward for a possible second phase implementation.

    The Asia and Pacific Commission on Agricultural Statistics (APCAS) is a statutory body of FAO. APCAS brings together senior statistics officials from FAO member countries of the Asia and Pacific region, who are responsible for the development of agricultural statistics in their respective countries. The APCAS report notes the details of the Commission meeting. Fifty-two technical documents, including an update on the situation of agricultural statistics and priority areas for FAO interventions in the region, were discussed. The report also highlights the key recommendations made by the Commission.
