Also available in:
No results found. This report presents the proceedings of the Regional Collaborate Platform workshop of the Water Scarcity Initiative. It provides a summary of discussions by thematic area covering the 3 key topics of water consumption, crop water productivity, and drought management. One of the main objectives of the workshop was to develop an Operational Work Plan based on the main recommendations made by each country following the discussions addressing the 3 key topics. In this report, the recommendations are made for each country based on their priorities and needs, and constitute the basis for consultations between the relevant institutions on the country level towards the elaboration of a comprehensive national work plan to be implemented into specific actions. -
ProjectImproving Water Productivity to Increase Water Use Efficiency and Agricultural Production - MTF/GLO/253/IHE 2023
Also available in:
No results found.Immediate action is needed to improve sustainable management of water at all levels, as competition between water use sectors continues to increase rapidly. In agriculture, it is crucial that gains be made in terms of water productivity, increased agricultural productivity and the use of less water. Monitoring and addressing water productivity not only addresses food and water security, but also supports informed decision making for economic development and resilience to climate variability and change, as well as the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6.4 on improved water use efficiency. Water Productivity Improvement in Practice (Water-PIP) aimed to provide guidance on water productivity improvement to countries and engage with donors and institutions to raise the profile of water productivity priorities on a global scale. -
DocumentRaised beds for improving crop water productivity and water efficiency in irrigated dryland agriculture, Egypt 2016
Also available in:
No results found.Irrigation is crucial for agricultural activities, however if not managed well, it entails high water losses and can be inefficient in its application. The raised bed system is an improved surface irrigation strategy, which enhances water productivity and makes the application of water in irrigated systems more efficient. It can be easily implemented by the farmers themselves. This practice describes how raised bed systems can be used to improve crop water productivity in summer and winter crops.
