No results found.Los agricultores familiares de la región de América Latina y el Caribese topan a menudo con políticas sectoriales muy específicas que lesdificultan el acceso a activos productivos, a mercados, y a mecanismosde protección social; dificultades contra las que luchan para podermejorar sus medios de subsistencia y la capacidad de produciralimentos. El proyecto planteó fortalecer las capacidades de lasorganizaciones de agricultores familiares, y promover los mecanismosintersectoriales nacionales para la innovación institucional, con el fin depermitir un mayor desarrollo integral de carácter productivo, comercialy de protección social. Estas acciones han favorecido la innovación parala Agricultura Familiar (AF), han reforzado los mecanismos de inversióny financiamiento, y han permitido implantar programas de apoyo paraproveer servicios de desarrollo de nuevos emprendimientos en áreasrurales. -

No results found.La creciente frecuencia e intensidad de las crisis y desastres, intensificados por el cambio climático y la degradación de los recursos naturales y la biodiversidad, amenazan las acciones contra el hambre y la pobreza rural y atentan contra las metas establecidas en los ODS Entre 2005 y 2015 el sector agropecuario presentó pérdidas económicas millonarias como consecuencia de las amenazas naturales, principalmente sequías e inundaciones Los pequeños agricultores, las comunidades indígenas y en particular las mujeres del sector rural son altamente vulnerables a estas amenazas, representando en conjunto el 75 por ciento del total de las unidades productivas de la Región Los países se plantearon como desafío promover patrones de producción y consumo sostenible y transformar sus modelos agroproductivos garantizando la sostenibilidad y la resiliencia al clima en su desarrollo con el objetivo de asegurar la alimentación ante una población en constante crecimiento En la Región de América Latina y el Caribe ( es preciso aún compatibilizar las interacciones entre agricultura y medio ambiente con un crecimiento económico socialmente equitativo, siendo necesario promover instrumentos de políticas y programas de desarrollo agropecuario, silvícola y acuícola en un ámbito rural sostenible y resiliente Esto, siendo tan relevante, no cuenta hoy en día con un marco metodológico que permita mostrar su complementariedad y generar una agenda que incorpore mecanismos de inversión, seguimiento y evaluación reflejando mejor la sostenibilidad social, económica y ambiental El proyecto se propone mejorar la generación y acceso a la información, con sensibilidad de género, para la toma de decisiones mediante instrumentos que permitan integrar, monitorear y evaluar de forma sistemática la resiliencia y sostenibilidad en programas de desarrollo agrícola y rural. -

No results found.En América Latina y el Caribe el 46 por ciento de la población vive bajo la línea de pobreza y el 20 por ciento en situación de pobreza extrema Este escenario estaba destinado a agravarse con los efectos de la pandemia del COVID 19 creando incertidumbre y un nuevo escenario para los mercados laborales rurales y para la condición en que se desempeñarían los sistemas alimentarios, unido a las inversiones necesarias para generar condiciones de recuperación y crecimiento Para generar nuevas oportunidades económicas en los territorios rurales se necesita un mayor nivel de inversiones, tanto públicas como privadas, que lleguen a la mayor parte posible de habitantes, en especial mujeres y jóvenes El objetivo de las inversiones es crear un impacto positivo en el mercado del trabajo para generar crecimiento con empleo decente en dichos territorios Se espera que el dinamismo económico esté vinculado con aquellas actividades del sector agropecuario y del sistema alimentario en general, incluyendo actividades relacionadas con los recursos naturales como, por ejemplo, turismo o servicios ambientales como restauración forestal y manejo de paisajes Este proyecto responde a la necesidad de avanzar en el cierre de las brechas de inversión que afectan a los territorios rurales y, en particular, a la AF y a las micro y pequeñas empresas rurales, como una condición necesaria para innovar, mejorar los niveles de productividad y generar nuevas y mejores oportunidades.

Transforming food systems for food security, improved nutrition and affordable healthy diets for all
2021In recent years, several major drivers have put the world off track to ending world hunger and malnutrition in all its forms by 2030. The challenges have grown with the COVID-19 pandemic and related containment measures. This report presents the first global assessment of food insecurity and malnutrition for 2020 and offers some indication of what hunger might look like by 2030 in a scenario further complicated by the enduring effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also includes new estimates of the cost and affordability of healthy diets, which provide an important link between the food security and nutrition indicators and the analysis of their trends. Altogether, the report highlights the need for a deeper reflection on how to better address the global food security and nutrition situation.To understand how hunger and malnutrition have reached these critical levels, this report draws on the analyses of the past four editions, which have produced a vast, evidence-based body of knowledge of the major drivers behind the recent changes in food security and nutrition. These drivers, which are increasing in frequency and intensity, include conflicts, climate variability and extremes, and economic slowdowns and downturns – all exacerbated by the underlying causes of poverty and very high and persistent levels of inequality. In addition, millions of people around the world suffer from food insecurity and different forms of malnutrition because they cannot afford the cost of healthy diets. From a synthesized understanding of this knowledge, updates and additional analyses are generated to create a holistic view of the combined effects of these drivers, both on each other and on food systems, and how they negatively affect food security and nutrition around the world.In turn, the evidence informs an in-depth look at how to move from silo solutions to integrated food systems solutions. In this regard, the report proposes transformative pathways that specifically address the challenges posed by the major drivers, also highlighting the types of policy and investment portfolios required to transform food systems for food security, improved nutrition, and affordable healthy diets for all. The report observes that, while the pandemic has caused major setbacks, there is much to be learned from the vulnerabilities and inequalities it has laid bare. If taken to heart, these new insights and wisdom can help get the world back on track towards the goal of ending hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition in all its forms. -

No results found.The FAOSTAT emissions database is composed of several data domains covering the categories of the IPCC Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector of the national GHG inventory. Energy use in agriculture is additionally included as relevant to emissions from agriculture as an economic production sector under the ISIC A statistical classification, though recognizing that, in terms of IPCC, they are instead part of the Energy sector of the national GHG inventory. FAO emissions estimates are available over the period 1961–2018 for agriculture production processes from crop and livestock activities. Land use emissions and removals are generally available only for the period 1990–2019. This analytical brief focuses on overall trends over the period 2000–2018. -
