No results found.The Bhutan Rural and Digital Finance Ecosystem Assessment 2024 was jointly conducted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Bhutan Development Bank Limited (BDBL) under FAO’s Hand-in-Hand Initiative. The assessment is part of a regional project to improve inclusive rural financial systems in five Asia-Pacific countries.It responds to challenges in rural Bhutan, including poverty, limited access to finance and markets, gender and digital gaps, and climate vulnerability. The report examines the current rural and digital financial services landscape, identifies key constraints, and offers strategies for a more inclusive system aligned with Bhutan’s 13th Five-Year Plan. The assessment was led by APRACA with BAAC Thailand, following a 2023 field mission. It included stakeholder consultations and a literature review, and its findings were presented during an investment roundtable in October 2024. -
