La fiche d’information fournit des informations sur les années internationales, pourquoi un AIPV est nécessaire et comment les groupes concernés peuvent contribuer. Il souligne également la relation entre la santé des plantes et la réduction de la pauvreté, le développement économique, la protection de l’environnement et la sécurité alimentaire.

    Les plantes sont la source de l'oxygène qui remplit nos poumons, de la nourriture que nous consommons, et au bout du compte, de toute vie sur terre. Compte tenu de leur importance, nous devrions nous concentrer davantage sur la santé des plantes et leur maintien. L'Année internationale de la santé des végétaux (IYPH) 2020 est là pour faire évoluer les consciences en nous incitant à nous informer, et surtout, à prendre des mesures concrètes. Ainsi, la campagne IYPH sera axée sur l'action et ciblera des publics spécifiques, notamment: le grand public; les professionnels des médias; les écoliers; les agriculteurs; les représentants des gouvernements, les décideurs et les législateurs; les donateurs; les personnels des Organisations des Nations Unies et des organisations internationales; et le secteur privé.

    The SWSR is a reference document on the status of global soil resources that provides regional assessments of soil change. The information is based on peer-reviewed scientific literature, complemented with expert knowledge and project outputs. It provides a description and a ranking of ten major soil threats that endanger ecosystem functions, goods and services globally and in each region separately. Additionally, it describes direct and indirect pressures on soils and ways and means to combat s oil degradation. The report contains a Synthesis report for policy makers that summarizes its findings, conclusions and recommendations.

    These country reports are prepared as a contribution to the FAO publication, The State of the World’s Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture. The preparation of Country Reports provided an overview of existing information gaps and helped to establish a baseline information on biodiversity for food and agriculture. They also provided information on the role of biodiversity for food and agriculture in the provision of multiple ecosystem services. These country reports helped to address the following questions: • What is the state of the conservation and use of biodiversity for food security and nutrition, ecosystem services and sustainability? • What trends can be identified in the conservation and use of biodiversity for food and agriculture and in the effects of major drivers of change? • How can conservation and use of biodiversity for food and agriculture be improved and the contributions of biodiversity to food security and nutrition, ecosystem services, sustainability and the improvement of livelihoods of farmers, pastoralists, forest dwellers and fisher folk be enhanced?

    What will be needed to realize the vision of a world free from hunger and malnutrition? After shedding light on the nature of the challenges that agriculture and food systems are facing now and throughout the 21st century, the study provides insights into what is at stake and what needs to be done. “Business as usual” is not an option. Major transformations in agricultural systems, rural economies, and natural resources management are necessary. The present study was undertaken for the quadrennial review of FAO’s strategic framework and for the preparation of the Organization Medium-Term plan 2018-2021.
