No results found.The establishment of a well-organized and secured national greenhouse gases inventory’s archiving system is of paramount importance according to the Enhanced Transparency Framework, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and in general to the best practices of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Working to best prepare countries to address the transparency requirements, FAO has recently empowered Senegal towards improved archiving and proper management of greenhouse gas inventory (GHGI) data. The results of this process are presented here in order to encourage other countries in similar conditions to consider approaching FAO for tailored support while building their capacity to meet UNFCCC requirements under the ETF. -

Each greenhouse gas inventory (GHGI) cycle presents an opportunity to improve the overall inventory process. To do so, information should be managed and stored in a way that ensures adequate data archiving and accessibility. This will reduce the risk of losing information, improve processes, and enhance their overall sustainability. This case study focuses on the main challenges and steps to design and implement GHGI archiving procedures for better management of information, which can help countries meet the reporting requirements related to GHG inventories and associated transparency. -
