    В предлагаемой публикации приведен краткий обзор второго, электронного издания “Сборника материалов по климатически оптимизированному сельскому хозяйству”. В настоящую обновленную редакцию публикации включены результаты последних научных исследований, примеры из практики и накопленного опыта. В ней также учтены изменения в международной деятельности по проблемам климата, произошедшие за период с 2013 года, когда было опубликовано первое издание. Повестка дня в области устойчивого развития на период до 2030 года, которая охватывает “Парижское соглашение по изменению климата”, “цели в области устойчивого развития” и “Аддис-Абебскую программу действий”, представляет собой международную основу для активных действий на уровне стран и коллективных усилий, направленных на обеспечение устойчивого развития. Важнейшую роль в этих процессах призвано сыграть климатически оптимизированное сельское хозяйство – подход к достижению устойчивого продовольственного обеспечения и сельского хозяйства в условиях меняющегося климата.

    There is increasing attention to the importance of biodiversity for food security and nutrition, especially above-ground biodiversity such as plants and animals. However, less attention is being paid to the biodiversity beneath our feet, soil biodiversity, which drives many processes that produce food or purify soil and water. This report is the result of an inclusive process involving more than 300 scientists from around the world under the auspices of the FAO’s Global Soil Partnership and its Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils, the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Global Soil Biodiversity Initiative, and the European Commission. It presents concisely the state of knowledge on soil biodiversity, the threats to it, and the solutions that soil biodiversity can provide to problems in different fields. It also represents a valuable contribution to raising awareness of the importance of soil biodiversity and highlighting its role in finding solutions to today's global threats.

    Tracking progress on food and agriculture-related SDG indicators 2025 2025
    The achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the 2030 Agenda is now more crucial than ever, as the target date draws near and many goals are still far from being achieved. Countries across the globe are grappling with an array of complex and interconnected challenges, including ongoing conflicts, health crises, biodiversity loss, the escalating impacts of climate change, and political and economic tensions. FAO is the custodian agency for 22 SDG indicators spanning Goals 2, 5, 6, 12, 14 and 15. Among its key responsibilities as a custodian agency is to curate the indicator methodologies, collect, harmonize and compile data from countries, as well as disseminate and analyse data at global level. This report provides an analysis of regional and global figures and trends for the 22 SDG indicators under FAO's responsibility, thus fulfilling one of FAO’s key roles as custodian agency. The world is at a moderate distance from achieving roughly half of the food and agriculture-related SDG indicators under FAO custodianship; one-quarter of the indicators are close to being achieved, whereas another quarter remains far or very far from being achieved. Meanwhile, progress since 2015 has deteriorated on over three-fifths of the indicators; one indicator has stagnated; whereas only the remaining one-third of indicators have registered an improvement or slight improvement.

    Food loss is defined as “the decrease in quantity or quality of food” and are the agricultural or fisheries products intended for human consumption that are ultimately not eaten by people or that have incurred a reduction in quality reflected in their nutritional value, economic value or food safety. An important part of food loss is “food waste”, which refers to the discarding or alternative (nonfood) use of food that was fit for human consumption – by choice or after the food has been left to spoil or expire as a result of negligence.
