This newsletter is issue number one, it is for 2018 and includes all activities implemented during last year. This is another tool which will help boost the visibility of the work done by the country office.

    FAO Aquaculture Newsletter (FAN) is issued three times a year in the form of printed newsletter by the FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Department. It presents articles and views from the FAO aquaculture programme and highlights various aspects of aquaculture as seen from the perspective of both headquarters and the field programme. Articles are contributed by FAO staff from within and outside the Department, from FAO regional offices and field projects, by FAO consultants and, occasionally, by inv itation from other sources. FAN is distributed free of charge to all FAO member countries and has a current circulation of about 1 500 copies. It is also available online at: http://www.fao.org/fishery/publications/fan/

    Handbook on the integrated crop management of green gram and chickpea for farmer field schools in central dry zone of Myanmar 2022

    This curriculum briefly outlines Integrated pest management (IPM) for these selected crops, green gram, and chickpea. The general concept of IPM is the same for these crops, although the insect pests, diseases and weeds differ from one crop to another. The name of pests are listed for information, and important messages that are unique to Myanmar's situation is briefed if necessary, rather than giving a detailed account of morphology, biology, ecology and management, which can be readily available in published literature. It aims to improve farmers' knowledge of the pests, including insects, plant diseases, weeds and rodents causing the reduction in the yield of field crops and how to manage the crops to boost crop production without deteriorating environmental resources for sustainable agriculture.

The document presents a description of the structure of the rural environment, demography, the supply of goods and services, the main inequalities, levels of poverty, importance and role of family agriculture and other economic activities (diversification), the main features of rural society and the presence of the private sector. It will also discuss trends in migration and other social or economic processes relevant to the description of the rural situation. The text will also discuss the importance of rural development in achieving the SDGs by identifying the current situation and the extent of change required to meet the SDGs.

    This update focuses on trends in trade flows for the major product groups and most important traders using the most recently available data. Data is sourced from the relevant trade statistics agency of the respective reporting country or territory. Due to differences in reporting lag, global level data will exclude any trade that had not been reported by the relevant reporting body as of the last month specified for year-to-date aggregation. Product groups are aggregated at the 6-digit Harmonized System (HS) level and will exclude any trade that is reported under other 6-digit HS codes whose commodity descriptions are insufficiently specific.
