    Tackling Climate Change through Livestock
    A global assessment of emissions and mitigation opportunities

    As renewed international efforts are needed to curb greenhouse gas emissions, the livestock sector can contribute its part. An important emitter of greenhouse gas, it also has the potential to significantly reduce its emissions. This report provides a unique global assessment of the magnitude, the sources and pathways of emissions from different livestock production systems and supply chains. Relying on life cycle assessment, statistical analysis and scenario building, it also prov ides estimates of the sector’s mitigation potential and identifies concrete options to reduce emissions. The report is a useful resource for stakeholders from livestock producers to policy-makers, researchers and civil society representatives, which also intends to inform the public debate on the role of livestock supply chains in climate change and possible solutions.

    Codex Alimentarius, Étiquetage des denrées alimentaires text complets 2005
    La Commission du Codex Alimentarius met en oeuvre le Programme mixte FAO/OMS sur les normes alimentaires dans le but de protéger la santé des consommateurs et d'assurer des pratiques loyales dans le commerce alimentaire. Le Codex Alimentarius (en latin Loi ou Code alimentaire) est un recueil de normes alimentaires adoptées à l'échelon international présenté de manière uniforme. Il inclut également des dispositions à caractère consultatif sous forme de codes d'usages, de directives et de recommandations à l'appui des objectifs du Codex Alimentarius. La Commission a exprimé l'opinion que les codes d'usages peuvent fournir des listes récapitulatives des conditions à remplir utiles aux autorités nationales chargées du contrôle des denrées alimentaires ou de l'application de la législation alimentaire. La publicati on du Codex Alimentarius vise à guider et à promouvoir l'élaboration et l'établissement de définitions et d'exigences concernant les denrées alimentaires, à faciliter leur harmonisation et, ce faisant, à faciliter le commerce international.

    Open Access can be defined as the immediate, irrevocable and free online access to information products by any user worldwide, and re-use that is free of most restrictions, subject to proper attribution. FAO considers Open Access to be an important practical application of its commitment to the collection, synthesis, packaging and distribution of FAO knowledge to the world at large, and particularly the populations of those countries where such knowledge may not be readily accessible. This policy advocates the application of suitable open licenses to FAO copyright material in accordance with the principles of openness and sharing envisioned under Open Access, and consistent with the mandate of FAO.Last updated February 2025
