No results found.Years of conflict in Iraq has left 3.2 million people food insecure, including those who depend on agriculture for their livelihoods. Humanitarian needs remain significant after eight months since military operations to retake Mosul from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) started. According to figures from the Iraqi Government, on 28 June 2017, more than 897 000 people had been displaced from Mosul and surrounding areas since the offensive began on 17 October 2016. As of 28 June 201 7, 152 313 people had returned to their homes in eastern Mosul and 62 513 people to western Mosul. Military operations continue in western Mosul, where concerns remain for the protection of civilians in the remaining ISIL-controlled areas in the city. -

No results found.5.1 million people face acute food insecurity in northeastern Nigeria (Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States) during the next lean season (Cadre Harmonisé analysis released on 28 October) – immediate intervention is required to assist these populations. A recent Special IPC Alert on Borno State (FEWS NET; 16 December) noted that a famine is likely ongoing and will continue in inaccessible areas of Borno State assuming conditions remain the same. The alert also noted that the current response is insuffi cient to meet needs.
