No results found.The 8th Asia Pacific workshop on multisectoral collaboration at the animal-human-ecosystems interface was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 9 to 11 April 2019. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) hosted the workshop in collaboration with the Regional Tripartite, which included FAO, World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the World Health Organization (WHO). A total of 142 participants attended this workshop including representatives from national governments of 28 countries in the Asia Pacific region, regional organizations, academic institutions, experts and development partners working on human health, animal health and wildlife issues. -

No results found.This factsheet highlights key progress and achievements from the first 18 months (December 2023 to May 2025) of the FAO Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) project “Building resilient animal health systems to reduce the risks and impact of biological threats in Southeast Asia.”With support from the United States Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the project has helped strengthen animal health systems in six Southeast Asian countries. Activities focused on building field epidemiology skills, improving laboratory systems, enhancing surveillance and early warning and promoting cross-border collaboration.Key accomplishments include expanding workforce training through the regional field epidemiology programme, activation of a regional disease rumour tracking system, developing national laboratory strategies and coordinating surveillance initiatives.

A GF-TADs initiative. 2020-2025
2020Resolution No.33 adopted at the 87th General Session of the World Assembly of National Delegates of the OIE recommended that ‘A global initiative for the control of ASF be launched using the GF-TADs mechanism to develop, improve and harmonise national, regional and global partnership and coordination to address ASF at the source, enhance prevention and preparedness, minimise adverse impacts on animal health and welfare, international trade, and social wellbeing’. The FAO-OIE GF-TADs Initiative for the Global Control of ASF have been drafted by the OIE and FAO technical teams. It aims to tackle the strategic challenges to effectively address the mandate given to the OIE and FAO at the last OIE General Session by defining the objectives and providing the structure for specific outcomes to be achieved for the global control of the disease. -
BookletHigh-profileFAO Strategy on Climate Change 2022–2031 2022The FAO Strategy on Climate Change 2022–2031 was endorsed by FAO Council in June 2022. This new strategy replaces the previous strategy from 2017 to better FAO's climate action with the Strategic Framework 2022-2031, and other FAO strategies that have been developed since then. The Strategy was elaborated following an inclusive process of consultation with FAO Members, FAO staff from headquarters and decentralized offices, as well as external partners. It articulates FAO's vision for agrifood systems by 2050, around three main pillars of action: at global and regional level, at country level, and at local level. The Strategy also encourages key guiding principles for action, such as science and innovation, inclusiveness, partnerships, and access to finance.

No results found.The FAOSTAT emissions database is composed of several data domains covering the categories of the IPCC Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector of the national GHG inventory. Energy use in agriculture is additionally included as relevant to emissions from agriculture as an economic production sector under the ISIC A statistical classification, though recognizing that, in terms of IPCC, they are instead part of the Energy sector of the national GHG inventory. FAO emissions estimates are available over the period 1961–2018 for agriculture production processes from crop and livestock activities. Land use emissions and removals are generally available only for the period 1990–2019. This analytical brief focuses on overall trends over the period 2000–2018.
