Synopsis (short abstract) Opening statement at UNFF9. This session is a milestone for the international arrangement on forests, launching a year-long celebration of forests during the International Year of Forests (Forests 2011) and responding to key developments in the broader international dialogue. In addition, the forest community comes together to take stock of the progress made in implementing the non-legally binding instrument on all types of forests (Forest Instrument) and achieving the four global objectives on forests.
