Synopsis (short abstract) This project fact sheet summarizes the key aspects of this project Safeguarding emergency agriculture livelihoods and access to nutritious food of vulnerable food insecure farming families. (As part of Denmark's contributing to FAO's emergency and resilience activities in Afghanistan, 2021), objective, budget, geographical scope, people assisted, assistance modalities, crosscutting issues and SDGs contribution. The key objective of this project is to provide season-critical support for vulnerable smallholder farming families by assisting wheat cultivation package and nutrition-sensitive vegetable cultivation/home-gardening package.

    This project fact sheet summarizes the key aspects of this project (Emergency assistance for protecting agriculture-livelihoods and rebuilding near-term resilience of vulnerable and food insecure farming households to shocks including COVID-19), objective, budget, geographical scope, people assisted, assistance modalities, crosscutting issues and SDGs contribution.The overall objective is to provide time-critical assistance to vulnerable smallholder farming and herding households. These families will be provided with agricultural inputs to safeguard their livelihoods. Marginal landless and women-headed households will receive cash-based assistance in various forms, as well as nutrition-sentitive farming support.

    This project fact sheet summarizes the key aspects of this project, emergency assistance for protecting agriculture-livelihoods and rebuilding coping capacities of vulnerable and food insecure farming households to shocks including COVID-19, objective, budget, geographical scope, people assisted, assistance modalities, crosscutting issues and SDGs contribution. The key objective of this project is to providing time-critical assistance to 24 000 vulnerable small holder farming and herding households in four of the most food insecure provinces of Afghanistan. People assisted will receive inputs to protect their livestock or cultivate wheat, hence protecting their livelihoods. The project is also protecting vulnerable landless and women-headed households with cash and nutrition assistance.

    The project Safeguarding agriculture-livelihoods and rebuilding near-term resilience of drought-impacted vulnerable and food insecure households in Afghanistan – OSRO/AFG/006/USA is assisting smallholder and food-nutrition insecure rural households in three provinces, by using the following assistance modalities: wheat cultivation, livestock protection, home gardening, poultry keeping, cash-for-work, unconditional cash transfers, training and COVID-19.
