No results found.The Third Ad Hoc Meeting of Intergovernmental Organizations on Work Programmes Related to Subsidies in Fisheries took place at FAO headquarters from 23 to 25 July 2003. Representatives from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Council, the Association of Southeast-Asian Nations, the Caribbean Community Secretariat, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the Permanent Commission for the South Pacific, the United Na tions Environment Programme, the World Trade Organization and three invited experts attended the meeting. The agenda contained two main items: (i) presentation and discussion of current work programmes on subsidies in fisheries and (ii) presentation and discussion of methodologies used by participating organizations to establish the effects and impacts of subsidies. Under this point, FAO presented its work programme related to fisheries subsidies. There was a general agreement that the proposed work constituted a very important first step in the analysis of historical impacts of fisheries subsidies in individual fisheries. -
Book (series)Report of the Ad Hoc Meeting of Intergovernmental Organizations on Work Programmes Related to Subsidies in Fisheries (Rome, 21-22 May 2001) 2001The Ad Hoc Meeting with Intergovernmental Organizations on Work Programmes Related to Subsidies in Fisheries took place at FAO Headquarters for one and a half days starting on 21 May 2001 as a follow up to a recommendation made at the twenty-fourth session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI). Representatives from the FAO, UNEP, WTO, OECD and SADC Secretariats attended the Meeting. The Agenda of the meeting included two main issues: (i) presentation and discussion of work programmes on subsi dies in fisheries by participating organizations; and (ii) challenges and possible way forward/issues for the future was adopted. While noting that collaboration amongst the agencies concerned has been going on for some time, the meeting identified a number of additional opportunities for collaboration. The meeting also identified actions for intergovernmental organizations and governments respectively.

No results found.The Second Inter-governmental Meeting on the Establishment of a Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries Organization (Trabzon, Turkey, 3-5 June 2009) was convened at the invitation of the Government of Turkey. The Meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) of Turkey and was organized by the Trabzon Central Fisheries Research Institute of Turkey. The meeting discussed, revised and accepted through consensus the draft ¿Agreement on the Central Asian and Caucasus Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Commission¿. The meeting requested FAO to present the Agreement to the FAO Council and Conference in 2009. The Delegation of Kyrgyzstan to the meeting offered to host the third intergovernmental meeting in September 2010.
