    El tema de la seguridad alimentaria destaca en la edición de este año de El estado mundial de la agricultura y la alimentación. En situaciones muy diversas, la imagen general que produce este informe es de alentador adelanto en muchos ámbitos que benefician directa o indirectamente a la agricultura y la alimentación. En efecto, en el año 1994-1995 la economía mundial se ha fortalecido después de la desaceleración que experimentó entre 1990 y 1993; la liberación económica y la reforma avanzaron e n muchos países; la recuperación de los precios internacionales de los productos básicos ha proporcionado a muchas economías exportadoras de productos agrícolas las divisas que, según se prevé, les permitirán consolidar las bases de un crecimiento sostenido. Estos acontecimientos positivos en el ámbito mundial, además de una serie de aciertos en algunas regiones y países, configuran un período que posiblemente pasará a la historia como una época de oportunidad y esperanza para muchos países del mundo en desarrollo.

    The Protocol of 8-9 July 1946 relative to the dissolution of the International Institute of Agriculture, transferred the functions and assets of the said Institute to FAO. Of these assets, the Library is unquestionably the most outstanding and is a lasting record of the Institute's work and its achievement in the field of agriculture. This catalogue will undoubtedly contribute towards a better knowledge of this international Library. This volume in its present form, represents the systematic card-index, by subject of the Brussels Decimal Classification, in French and English, and it's supplemented by the general alphabetical index of authors.

    The 2023 edition of the Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean presents an update of the data and trends in food security and nutrition in recent years. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis and the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the economic slowdown, rising food inflation and income inequality have had an impact on regional figures. The most recent data shows that, between 2021 and 2022, progress was made in reducing hunger and food insecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, the progress achieved is far from the targets established to meet SDG 2 of ending hunger. In addition, one in five people in the region cannot access a healthy diet and malnutrition in all its forms, including child stunting, micronutrient deficiencies and obesity continue to be a major challenge.
