Synopsis (short abstract) In the framework of the project GCP/GLO/1266/FRA-F, in collaboration with the Government of France, FAO organized a climate–nutrition roundtable entitled “Policy and Research Roundtable Dialogue on Integrated Climate–Nutrition Action” on 5 February 2025. The event brought together approximately 1 300 participants, both in person and online, and featured distinguished speakers, including Permanent Representatives, government officials, leading researchers, and senior officials from UN agencies and civil society organizations. Over the course of three hours, a joint keynote presentation shared the latest data, metrics, and evidence on the impact of integrated climate-nutrition action followed by rich discussions exploring key policy options and opportunities and research themes.This brochure presents the key take-home messages from the keynote presentations and panel discussions, complemented by selected quotes from event speakers. The key take-home messages highlight the evidence base on climate change and nutrition linkages, the impact of integrated climate–nutrition actions, positive experiences and promising practices, as well as evidence gaps identified by speakers, providing a concise and impactful summary of the roundtable’s key insights to advance integrated actions across the climate, agrifood, and nutrition sectors.

The Policy and Research Roundtable Dialogue on Integrated Climate–Nutrition Action took place at FAO’s headquarters on 5 February 2025, jointly organized by FAO and the Government of France, with support from partners of the Initiative on Climate Action and Nutrition (I-CAN), including the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), and the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement, as well as the Standing Together for Nutrition Consortium (ST4N) and the Micronutrient Forum, and the SickKids Centre for Global Child Health/Aga Khan University. Its aim was to facilitate knowledge exchange between researchers and policymakers, and identify critical data and evidence needs for science-driven policy and for investment in integrated action to address climate change and malnutrition.

This technical study highlights the role of discriminatory social institutions, unequal power relations and agency in influencing climate resilience processes for sustainable agrifood systems. It also defines core characteristics of gender transformative change in climate resilience programming and presents a collection of climate change interventions that address different dimensions of gender transformative change and the management of disaster risks in agrifood systems. The main audience for this study consists of food security, agriculture, climate and gender practitioners and experts with an interest in gender transformative change in interventions related to climate adaptation and disaster risk management. The paper was developed in the framework of the Joint Programme on Gender Transformative Approaches for Food Security and Nutrition (JP GTA).
