No results found.The Working Group on the Demersal Resources in the Western Gulf of Guinea and Sherbro Statistical Divisions was held at the Centre de recherches océanographiques, Abidjan, from 24 to 28 September 1990 at the kind invitation of the Ministry of Scientific Research Côte d'Ivoire. Mr J. Konan (Côte d'Ivoire) presided over the meeting. Participating in the meeting were experts from Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Spain, Nigeria and FAO. The list of participants is given in Appendix 1. Mr J. B ravo de Laguna (Consultant) was the rapporteur assisted by Messrs M. Ansa-Emmim, J. Konan, Ms Ana Ramos, K. Koranteng and M. Taconet. The agenda prepared for the Working Group was adopted The Fishery Committee for the Eastern Central Atlantic (CECAF) expresses its appreciation to the Government of the Kingdom of Spain for its continued support to the Committee's scientific activities. CECAF wishes also to thank the Ministry of Scientific Research, Côte d'Ivoire and ORSTOM (France) for putting at the disposal of the Working Group the facilities of the Centre de recherches océanographiques. Finally, the Committee gratifuly acknowledges the assistance given by the INFOPECHE Project for the smooth running of the meeting. -

No results found.The report provides the outcomes of series of national workshops organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Fishery Committee for the Eastern Central Atlantic (CECAF) and the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC), under the project “Capacity Building on Data Collection and Management for Member States.” Conducted between 28 April and 5 July 2021, the workshops took place in Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Liberia, with the support of FAO’s Regional Office for Africa (RAF), national FAO country offices, and technical inputs from FAO’s Fisheries and Resources Monitoring System (FIRMS) team. The primary objective of these workshops was to strengthen and harmonize fisheries data collection and reporting systems across FCWC member states. Key outcomes included a diagnostic of current fisheries reporting practices, identification of national capacities and gaps in both industrial and small-scale fisheries data, and prioritization of actions to align national data systems with FCWC, CECAF, and FAO reporting standards to improve data collection and collaboration across the FCWC subregion.
