Cette publication se propose de présenter un échantillon de ces différentes expérience s en vue de montrer l’intérêt d’une traçabilité maîtrisée, qui tienne compte de l’objectif de l’utilisateur et de l’environnement dans lequel le système sera amené à fonctionner. Elle s’adresse aussi bien aux responsables de grandes entreprises qu’aux gestionnaires de forêts communautaires ou encore aux fonctionnaires d’administrations forestières appelés à développer un système de traçabilité adapté à leurs besoins.

The present publication will present a sample of these initiatives in order to show the advantages of efficient traceability that t akes account of the user’s aim and the environment in which the system will be operating. It is intended not only for the managers of large-scale enterprises, but also for the managers of community forests and for forest service officers with the task of developing a traceability system suited to their needs.
