Synopsis (short abstract) The resource guide is part of the follow-up to the Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2) that was held in November 2014 in Rome, Italy. It aims at guiding countries to translate the 60 recommended policy options and actions of the ICN2 Framework of Action into country-specific commitments for action. This process is done according to the national needs and conditions, and builds on existing policies, strategies, programmes, plans and investments in order to achieve the 10 commitments of the Rome Declaration on Nutrition, under the UN Decade of Action for Nutrition 2016-2025 (www.un.org/nutrition).

    The nutrition education intervention “Improving Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices” was integrated into the nutrition-sensitive agriculture project “Improving Food Security and Market Linkages for Smallholders (MALIS)” in Otdar Meanchey (OMC) and Preah Vihear (PVR), Cambodia from 2013–2015. The overall objective of the MALIS project was to improve the food and nutrition security of vulnerable rural families who depended primarily on agriculture for their livelihoods. The nutrition educatio n intervention was specifically aimed at improving the dietary intake of families and young children through nutrition and health education.

    Extreme climate events are increasing in frequency and intensity, threatening the agriculture sectors and the livelihoods they support. By impacting on agro-ecosystems, climate change and variability have socio-economic implications on the livelihoods and food security and nutrition of the most vulnerable. On the other hand, the agriculture sectors are also significant greenhouse gas emitters. This note aims to serve as orientation material for policy advisors and policymakers confronted with t he challenge of ensuring food security and nutrition in the face of climate change and extreme climate events.
