The complete yearbook package for each of these categories – all the key information and statistical tables – is contained on one CD–ROM. An accompanying booklet includes general notes, concepts and classifications, and summary tables as well as a pull-out map of FAO major fishing areas. This issue also includes statistics on apparen t fish consumption derived from FAO food balance sheets and notes on the major trends and issues relating to the individual statistical sets. -

No results found.The third Workshop on Fish Technology, Utilization and Quality Assurance in Africa was organized by the Products, Trade and Marketing Service of FAO’s Fisheries and Aquaculture, Policy and Economics Division (FIP), in collaboration with the Seychelles Bureau of Standards (SBS) in Victoria, Mahe, Seychelles. The workshop reviewed progress in post-harvest fish utilization in Africa and made recommendations to FAO, its member countries and institutes interested in fish utilization in Africa. The ex perts reviewed in particular fresh or live fish handling, fish processing, post-harvest loss assessment, quality and safety, and marketing and socio-economic issues. The meeting included: a presentation by the secretariat of a report on progress and events since the workshop held in 2008, presentation of 26 papers and a field trip to the Indian Ocean Tuna factory. The report includes the recommendations as well as the papers that were made available to the experts.
