Synopsis (short abstract) This document is the report of the 18th session of the Committee for Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture of Africa (CIFAA), conducted in Bamako, Mali, from 26 to 28 November 2019. A total of 47 delegates from 29 member countries and 3 observers participated in the 18th ordinary session. The session covered the main topics of : Follow-up of the intersessional activities on the decisions and recommendations of the 17th session; sustainability of aquaculture production (profitability and socio-economic considerations); the voluntary guidelines to ensure Sustainability of Artisanal Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and poverty eradication (SSF Guidelines) and Inland fisheries and Aquaculture; Fish diseases and environmental constraints, Sharing of experiences in sustainable development of inland fisheries and aquaculture in West Africa - Challenges in the ECOWAS region. Le présent document est le rapport de la dix-huitième session du Comité des pêches continentales et de l'aquaculture pour l’Afrique (CPCAA), tenue à Bamako, Mali, du 26 au 28 novembre 2019. Au total, 47 délégués de 29 pays membres et 3 observateurs ont participé à la Dix-huitième session ordinaire. Les principaux thèmes de la session ont porté sur: le suivi des activités intersessions sur les décisions et recommandations de la Dix-septième session; la durabilité de la production aquacole (rentabilité et considérations socio-économiques); les directives volontaires pour assurer la durabilité de la pêche artisanale dans le contexte de la sécurité alimentaire et de l'éradication de la pauvreté (directives SSF) et la pêche continentale et l'aquaculture; les maladies des poissons et contraintes environnementales, le partage d’expériences en développement durable des pêches continentales et aquaculture en Afrique de l’ouest - défis dans la zone CEDEAO.

    This document is the final report of the Eighth Session of the Committee for Inland Fisheries of Africa, which was held in Cairo, Egypt, from 21 to 25 October 1990. Major topics discussed were: post-harvest fish technology, prospect and trends of African Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture towards the year 2000, intersessional activities, progress in the implementation of the Strategy and Programmes of Action of the FAO World Conference on Fisheries Management and Development, review of the FAO Field Programme 1988/89 in the region, collaboration with organizations concerned with inland fisheries development in Africa, and the main subject for discussion at future sessions of the Committee. The main decisions, directives and recommendations are listed in Appendix E.Le present document est le rapport final adopté par le Comité des pêches continentales pour l'Afrique à sa huitième session, tenue au Caire (Egypte) du 21 au 25 octobre 1990. Les principaux thèmes abordés ont été les suivants: technologie du poisson après capture; perspectives et tendances des pêches continentales et de l'aquaculture en Afrique à l'horizon 2000; activités dans l'intervalle des sessions; progrès dans la mise en oeuvre de la stratégie et des programmes d'action de la Conférence mondiale de la FAO pour l'aménagement et le développement des pêches; examen du programme de terrain 1988/89 de la FAO dans la région; collaboration avec d'autres organisations s'intéressant au developpement des pêches intérieures en Afrique, et principal thème de discussion des futures sessions du Comité.
