The project was developed by the Secretariat of the Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans of the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic Area (ACCOBAMS) and the Secretariat of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) in collaboration with the Regional Activity Centre for Specially Protected Areas (RAC/SPA). The main objective of this guide is to enhance the conservation of endangered marine species (cetaceans, sea turtles and seabirds, etc.) by promoting responsible fishing practices in the Mediterranean, in line with Recommendation GFCM/35/2011/4 on the incidental by-catch of sea turtles in fisheries in the GFCM area of application.
