This document presents the fil report of the Seventy-third Session of the Executive Committee of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) which was held in Nha Trang, Viet Nam, from 23 to 25 August 2011. The APFIC Executive Committee’s main function is to direct the conduct of business and affai rs of the Commission between its biennial sessions and provide advice to the Secretariat. The APFIC Executive Committee at its Seventy-third session is composed of Viet Nam (Chairperson), India (Vice-Chairperson), Bangladesh and USA (Members), Republic of Korea (the former Chairperson) and the Secretary of the Commission (as an Ex-officio member). The agenda items discussed at the meeting were:  Inter-sessiol activities of APFIC Outcomes of the Third APFIC Regiol Consultative Forum Meeting (RCFM ) and recommendations of the Thirty-first Session Intertiol fishery developments and recommendations of the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI) Review of key areas for attention by APFIC and partner organizations Updating the APFIC strategic plan 2012-2018 Improving the effectiveness of APFIC’s role in the region APFIC budget APFIC ongoing workplan and preparations for the Fourth RCFM and arrangements for the Thirty-second Session of APFIC Date and place of the Seventy-fourth session of APFIC Exec utive Committee The Executive Committee endorsed a number of recommendations relating to the direction of APFIC and how to strengthen its function. In addition, the Executive committee noted several key areas for attention under the forthcoming workplan. The Executive Committee also advised on the preparations for the Fourth Regiol Consultative Forum Meeting and the Thirty-second Session of APFIC to be held in Da Nang, Viet Nam, in 2012.

This document presents the fil report of the Seventy-fourth Session of the Executive Committee of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) which was held in New Delhi, India, from 22 to 24 May 2013. The APFIC Executive Committee’s main function is to direct the conduct of business and affairs of the Commission between its biennial Sessions and provide advice to the Secretariat. The APFIC Executive Committee at its Seventy-fourth session comprised India (Chairperson), Sri Lanka (Vice-Chairperson), Thailand and Philippines (Members), Viet Nam (the former Chairperson) and the Secretary of the Commission (as an ex officio member). The Executive Committee made a number of recommendations relating to the thematic areas covered under the APFIC workplan and made specific recommendations to be referred to the Thirty-second FAO Asia-Pacific Regiol Conference. These covered the thematic areas of aquaculture, inland fisheries and marine fisheries. In addition, the Executive Committee suggested that APFIC convene a High level advisory meeting for senior fishery officers in the 2014-2015 to brief on the key priority issues facing the fisheries and aquaculture sectors of the region and noted several key areas for attention under th e forthcoming workplan. The Executive Committee made recommendations for changes for the programme and preparations for the Fifth Regiol Consultative Forum Meeting and the Thirty-third Session of APFIC to be held in India in 2014. The Executive Committee agreed that the Seventy-fifth Session of the Executive Committee would be convened in Sri Lanka in September 2014 or thereabouts.

    This document presents the final report of the seventy-third session of the Executive Committee of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) convened in Nha Trang, Viet Nam from 23 to 25 August 2011. Major topics discussed were: ways to improve the effectiveness of APFIC's role in the region; updating of the strategic plan for 2012–2018; intersessional activities and outcomes of the third regional consultative forum meeting; and international fishery developments and recommendations of the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI). The Executive Committee endorsed a number of recommendations relating to the direction of APFIC and how to strengthen its function. In addition, the Committee noted several key areas for attention under the forthcoming work plan.

The APFIC Executive Committee for biennium 2009-2010 is composed of the Republic of Korea (Chairperson), Viet Nam (Vice Chairperson), Philippines and Sri Lanka (Members), Indonesia (the outgoing Chairperson) and the Secretary of the Commission (as Ex-officio member). Major topics discussed at the meeting were ways to improve APFIC's effectiveness for its members in the region; the issues of signi ficance to the region that have emerged in regiol and intertiol fora over the past biennium; progress and outcomes of the APFIC regiol consultative workshops on "Practical implementation of the ecosystem approach to fisheries and aquaculture in the APFIC region" and "Improving resilience and reducing vulnerability of livelihoods in small-scale fisheries"; preparations for the Third Regiol Consultative Forum meeting and the Thirty-first Session of APFIC to be held in Republic of Korea in Septembe r 2010. A number of recommendations made by the Executive Committee concerning future activities need to be acted on by the Secretariat in close cooperation with participating members and in partnership with other regiol fishery bodies in Asia and the Pacific region.
