Synopsis (short abstract) Recent demographic, social, economic and institutional changes have aggravated the food supplies and distribution problems of African cities, all of which will be doubling their current population in less than twenty years. Very few initiatives have been taken to improve the performance of food supply and distribution systems (FSDS) to cities and minimise the cost at which good quality food products reach the urban consumers' tables.     This presentation has been shown during the 5th Annual Gathering of the signatory cities of the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP) in Montpellier (9 Oct. 2019). It summarizes the implementation of a pilot project by the Nairobi City County (Kenya), with the support of FAO and RUAF, related to the monitoring framework dedicated to urban food policy: process or indicators selection; data collection; main results; lessons learnt. The monitoring framework is based of the 37 recommended actions of the MUFPP. This presentation is a "grey document" linked to the publication "City guidance for implementing the MUFPP monitoring framework".
