Despite the recent peace agreement, extreme levels of acute food insecurity are expected to persist in areas of continued conflict and poor harvests, calling for immediate and unhindered food assistance and careful monitoring. For 2019, FAO requires USD 75 million to assist 4.8 million people to protect their livelihoods and increase their resilience to shocks. -

The humanitarian situation in the Niger remains affected by food insecurity, malnutrition, population displacement, natural disasters and epidemics. Multiple chronic factors and successive shocks mean that millions of people require urgent assistance each year. In 2019, FAO is appealing for USD 12.8 million to assist 505 400 people through food and livestock production support. -

No results found.Conflict, political instability and insecurity have fuelled the protracted crisis in Libya, impacting individuals and families as well as the country’s economy and institutions. Resulting waves of displacement have further affected households’ ability to withstand additional shocks, while diminished purchasing power and disrupted markets have made resilience and recovery increasingly difficult. Increased engagement in agriculture can play a vital role in supporting resilience, allowing households to better adapt to future shocks. In 2019, FAO requires USD 3 million to assist 298 000 people.
