This report summarizes the main results of FAO in Cuba in 2023, another year in which our focus was on advancing towards more efficient agrifood systems, inclusive, resilient and sustainable for Cuba, with the purpose of achieving better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life. In collaboration with the Cuban Government and its institutions and partners such as the Green Climate Fund, the Global Environment Facility and the European Union, we continue to consolidate our essential goals in the country, with a total of USD 66 million mobilized between 2019 and 2023. We continue to accelerate results with our most advanced projects with diverse actions such as the acquisition of machinery and supplies to accelerate the fulfillment of our objectives in critical areas such as the adaptation and mitigation of climate change and support for food trade and we advance in the productive restoration of 35 000 hectares of land previously invaded by marabou, implementing agroforestry, forestry and silvopastoral systems to address challenges such as food security, biodiversity conservation and the sustainability of natural resources and we continue to support the country in the construction and implementation of public policies to transform local agrifood systems and improve their governance, including the Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutrition Security Law, as well as other policies and regulations. -

2021
2021Also available in:
No results found. This publication has the objective of providing a comprehensive analysis of the key trends in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and vulnerability to climate change in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region, compiling the most relevant efforts and progress reported by countries in the implementation of mitigation and adaptation goals and measures in recent years. Considering the areas of the FAO mandate, this document aims to provide information with relevance for the agricultural, and land use, land-use change, and forestry (LULUCF) sectors as key contributors to country gross domestic product (GDP) and one of the most vulnerable areas of economic activity to the impacts of climate change. This policy analysis report consists of three main sections that consider the levels of economic development, as well as diverse geopolitical contexts, in the region. To reflect this diversity of country realities, the information is structured and presented by sub-regions, including the Caucasus, Central Asia, (European part of) the Commonwealth of the Independent States and Ukraine 2 (hereinafter referred to as CIS), EU27+UK, 3 European Free Trade Association (EFTA), and Southeastern Europe (SEE).
