Book (series)Evaluation reportEvaluation of the project “Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems (CDAIS)”
Project code: GCP/GLO/626/EC
2020Also available in:
No results found.“Capacity development for agricultural innovation systems”, implemented by FAO and Agrinatura from 2015 to 2019, supported the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP) to improve the global coherence of capacity development for agricultural innovation. The project contributed to developing a common framework for a practical approach to capacity development for agricultural innovation, and piloted its application across eight countries. The approach is based on soft skills and the importance of process, as opposed to the mainstream paradigm based on developing technology and hard technical skills. This approach was found to be relevant to most of the 40 TAP members by helping to improve the coherence and impact of their capacity development activities. The common framework has strong potential for adoption beyond TAP members. However, it is important for future similar interventions to work on both functional and technical capacities simultaneously.

Private sector looks post-COVID-19 – Safe food handling practices as important as ever
2020In a year characterized by unprecedented disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this publication records the steps the Codex Alimentarius has taken from July 2019 (CAC42) to September 2020 (CAC43) on the road to safe and quality food for everyone. Over the course of the year, some Codex committees were able to meet as scheduled to discuss updates to international food standards, guidelines and codes of practice. Those meetings able to complete their work include the six FAO/WHO Coordinating Committees covering all regions of the globe. Meetings were suddenly halted in March 2020 and since then Codex has been breaking new ground with a first ever virtual Executive Committee meeting and this first virtual Commission. The “food code’s” governing body, known as the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), will make decisions on the committees’ proposals during a series of virtual sessions held over nearly four weeks.
