No results found.The aim of the Biosafety Newsletter is to provide information on Biosafety and updates of the National Biosafety Project to a cross section of the population including university academics, students, persons involved in research and development in various scientific disciplines, farmers and the general public. With regard to Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) the potential benefits and risks to consumers of Genetically Modified (GM) products were given consideration and GMOs approved globally is highlighted in this newsletter to provide a broader understanding on global acceptance of GMOs particularly in food and agriculture. In addition, information on the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety by national and international key roles in the project from the implementing partners, Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment and the Food and Agriculture Organization respectively, is also highlighted in this issue. This newsletter is a forum for everyone to share their views and perceptions on Biosafety and would also be a platform to integrate everyone relevant to the field of Biosafety in Sri Lanka. -

No results found.The 3rd issue of the Biosafety newsletter contains information about key meetings and activities that took place during the latter part of 2018 and early 2019 in the National biosafety project (Implementation of the national biosafety framework in accordance with the Cartagena protocol on biosafety). The coverage of the 3rd issue is dedicated to inform the audience about the multi-stakeholder workshop that took place to review the draft documents on strengthening policy, institutional and regulatory framework for biosafety in Sri Lanka. The newsletter also mentions about the 2nd Technical expert group meeting, 2nd Project steering committee meeting, 1st meeting to discuss about the labs for detection of Living modified organisms and the meeting of the National coordinating committee on biosafety. Further, it informs about the survey conducted to collect baseline data on the understanding of biotechnology and biosafety among stakeholders. The newsletter includes synopses about biosafety in relation to biotechnological applications and an article about biodiversity from the National project director. This issue covers an important milestone in the project, which is partnering with an international and two national entities for project implementation. No results found.The 5th issue of the Biosafety Newsletter contains information about key meetings and activities that took place from December 2019 through to August 2020 in the National Biosafety Project (Implementation of the National Biosafety Framework in Accordance with the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety). The coverage of the 5th issue is dedicated to inform the audience about the progress made in relation to training of relevant stakeholders on monitoring and inspection of Living Modified Organisms (LMOs) and training on uploading information and maintenance of the Sri Lanka Biosafety Clearing House (BCH) website. The newsletter also mentions about biosafety awareness to the Ministry of Environment, Central Environmental Authority and undergraduates from the University of Colombo and University of Visual Arts. Further, it covers the 3rd Project steering committee meeting, meeting on biosafety awareness material and the six radio programs with experts from different areas on biosafety that were broadcasted live through the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. 20222022年版《世界渔业和水产养殖状况》的发布适逢联合国实现全球目标行动十年、联合国海洋科学促进可持续发展十年和联合国生态系统恢复十年的启动。本报告介绍了如何通过蓝色转型整合和支持这些活动及其他具有同等重要性的联合国活动，如2022国际手工渔业和水产养殖年。蓝色转型是新版联合国粮农组织《2022–2031年战略框架》的一个重点领域，旨在加快实现《2030年可持续发展议程》在粮食和农业领域的目标。蓝色转型的概念产生于2021年2月召开的粮农组织渔业委员会（渔委）第三十四届会议，特别是经粮农组织所有成员商定和批准的《可持续渔业和水产养殖宣言》。该《宣言》呼吁支持“21世纪渔业和水产养殖不断变化的积极愿景，使该部门对消除贫困、饥饿和营养不良的贡献得到充分认可”。在此背景下，此版《世界渔业和水产养殖状况》的第1部分回顾了全世界渔业和水产养殖的状况，而第2部分和第3部分则专门讨论蓝色转型及其关于水产养殖的集约化和扩大、改进渔业管理、创新渔业和水产养殖价值链的支柱。蓝色转型强调需要在未来几年启动或加快前瞻性的果敢行动，以实现《宣言》的目标并支持《2030年可持续发展议程》。第4部分涉及当前影响较大的新问题（新冠疫情、气候变化和性别平等），这些问题要求充分考虑转型步骤和预备措施，以确保可持续、高效和公平的渔业和水产养殖。 -

Sinhala version ජාතික ජෛවසුරක්ෂිතතා ව්යාපෘතිය (කාර්ටජිනා සන්ධානයේ සම්මුතීන් ක්රියාවට නැංවීමේ ජාතික ක්රියාරාමුව) මගින් 2018 වසරේ අවසන් කාල සීමාවේ හා 2019 වසරේ මුල් මාස කීපය තුල පවත්වනු ලැබු ප්රධාන රැස්වීම් හා අනෙකුත් ක්රියාකාරකම් පළිබඳ තොරතුරු 'ජෛවසුරක්ෂිතතා පුවත් හසුන', තෙවන වෙළුම මගින් ඉදිරිපත් කරනු ලබයි. මෙමගින් පාඨකයා වෙත ශ්රි ලංකාව තුල ජෛවසුරක්ෂිතතා ප්රතිපත්ති සවිබල ගැන්වීම සඳහා අදාල වන ආයතනික හා නෙෙතික ක්රියාරාමුව සකස්කර ගැනීම සඳහා කෙරුණු වැඩමුළු පිළිබඳ තොරතුරු ලබා දෙන අතරම දෙවන තාක්ෂණික විශේෂඥ කණ්ඩායමේ සහ ව්යාපෘති නියාමන කමිටුවේ දෙවන රැස්වීම, ජාන විකරණිත ජීවින් හඳුනා ගැනීමේ විද්යාගාර පහසුකම් පිළිබඳ රැස්වීම් මෙන්ම ජෛවසුරක්ෂිතතාව සඳහා වන සම්බන්ධීකරණ කමිටු රැස්වීම පිළිබඳ තොරතුරු මෙමගින් ඉදිරිපත් කරණු ලබයි. මීට අමතරව ජෙෙවතාක්ෂණය හා ජෛවසුරක්ෂිතතාව පිළිබඳ පාර්ශ්වකරුවන් තුල පවතින දැණුම හා අවෙබෝධය හඳුනා ගැනීම් වස් කෙරුණු සමීක්ෂණ දත්ත හා පාදක තොරතුරුද ඇතුලත් වන අතර ජාතික ව්යාපෘති අධ්යක්ෂකවරිය විසින් ජෙෙවතාක්ෂණික ක්රියාකාරකම් පිළිබඳ කරණ ලද හැඳින්වීමක් මෙන්ම ව්යාපෘතියේ ඉදිරි කටුයුතු වෙනුවෙන් අන්තර්ජාතික හා ජාතික ආයතන දෙකක් සමග සහ සම්බන්ධවීම පිළිබඳ තොරතුරුද ඇතුලත් වේ. The coverage of the 5th issue is dedicated to inform the audience about the progress made in relation to training of relevant stakeholders on monitoring and inspection of Living Modified Organisms (LMOs) and training on uploading information and maintenance of the Sri Lanka Biosafety Clearing House (BCH) website. 20222022年版《世界渔业和水产养殖状况》的发布适逢联合国实现全球目标行动十年、联合国海洋科学促进可持续发展十年和联合国生态系统恢复十年的启动。本报告介绍了如何通过蓝色转型整合和支持这些活动及其他具有同等重要性的联合国活动，如2022国际手工渔业和水产养殖年。蓝色转型是新版联合国粮农组织《2022–2031年战略框架》的一个重点领域，旨在加快实现《2030年可持续发展议程》在粮食和农业领域的目标。蓝色转型的概念产生于2021年2月召开的粮农组织渔业委员会（渔委）第三十四届会议，特别是经粮农组织所有成员商定和批准的《可持续渔业和水产养殖宣言》。该《宣言》呼吁支持“21世纪渔业和水产养殖不断变化的积极愿景，使该部门对消除贫困、饥饿和营养不良的贡献得到充分认可”。在此背景下，此版《世界渔业和水产养殖状况》的第1部分回顾了全世界渔业和水产养殖的状况，而第2部分和第3部分则专门讨论蓝色转型及其关于水产养殖的集约化和扩大、改进渔业管理、创新渔业和水产养殖价值链的支柱。蓝色转型强调需要在未来几年启动或加快前瞻性的果敢行动，以实现《宣言》的目标并支持《2030年可持续发展议程》。第4部分涉及当前影响较大的新问题（新冠疫情、气候变化和性别平等），这些问题要求充分考虑转型步骤和预备措施，以确保可持续、高效和公平的渔业和水产养殖。 -
