Viet Nam is hit by up to six tropical cyclones every year. The strong winds and extreme flooding induced by a tropical cyclone may have a devastating impact on the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable populations. The Anticipatory Action Protocol for typhoon and tropical cyclone-induced flooding aims to guide the government and partners to systematically monitor the likely impact of the hazard and use forecast information to trigger specific anticipatory actions, which are designed to safeguard lives and livelihoods. -

As a result, the number of lives lost to disasters such as floods, storms and extreme temperature has decreased significantly. However, the vulnerability within the agriculture sector has continuously increased due to its high level of exposure.
