dc.description.abstract In the last decade, food insecurity levels in West Africa and the Sahel have significantly worsened. According to the latest Cadre Harmonisé (CH) analyses, the number of acutely food-insecure people (CH Phase 3 or above) has risen from 10.7 million in 2020 to 38.1 million in March 2024. If no assistance is provided, this number is likely to rise to 51.9 million by August 2024. The FAO Resilience Programme for West Africa and the Sahel covers 18 countries and outlines a framework of interventions tailored to the specificities of to the region and its challenges, in order to provide coordinated assistance focused on the needs of populations and countries. Its main objective is to address food insecurity in a sustainable way, based on the humanitarian–development–peace nexus approach.
