No results found.The workshop “Promoting Water Tenure for Food Security, Climate Resilience, and Equity” was implemented by FAO and adelphi on 18 and 29 June in Berlin, Germany, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), and the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). This report presents its main findings. The objectives of the workshop were to increase knowledge and awareness about the role that water tenure plays in managing water resources and in its impacts on people’s food security and livelihoods. The workshop focused on three topics: 1) Water tenure and food security; 2) Water tenure and social inclusion; 3) Water tenure to increase climate resilience and mitigate conflicts. -

No results found.The project Knowing water better - Towards a more equitable and sustainable access to natural resources to achieve food security (KnoWat) developed an approach to water users and uses assessment that allows information collected in the field to be entered directly into a central database from smartphones or tablets. It is important for the central and local governments to have accurate data on the various users of water, water uses and sources, and to be able to monitor the extent to which water users are operating with water abstraction permits. -

No results found.The project Knowing water better - Towards a more equitable and sustainable access to natural resources to achieve food security (KnoWat) carried out a water tenure assessment in the Malwathu Oya southern catchment. The assessment identifies and compares the various water tenure arrangements that exist in Sri Lanka and highlights the challenges that may hinder the effectiveness of those arrangements. It also provides recommendations on how to achieve a more responsible and equitable governance of water tenure.
