No results found.The World Food Summit (WFS): Five years later took place in Rome 10 to 13 June 2002 to follow up, reaffirm and reinforce the commitments made at the WFS in November 1996, at which governments pledged their political will and their collective common and national commitment to achieving food security for all and to an ongoing effort to eradicate hunger in all countries, with an immediate view to reducing the number of undernourished people to half their level no later than 2015. The half-day sid e event on Rural women: crucial partners in the fight against hunger and poverty took place 12 June 2002. The event served to enhance the visibility, recognition and support for the important role and contributions of rural women, and in particular women farmers, in achieving the targets of the World Food Summit of 1996. The side event was organized by FAO’s Gender and Population Division with the financial contribution of the Government of Sweden. -
